No Matter Who Wins, It’s Time for Women to Lead Differently
It’s hard not to feel the global, full-body angst as we await Election Day results. Whether you’re doom-scrolling, on the Kornacki Watch, or staying off social media altogether, there’s a collective anxiety in the air that’s almost contagious. We can’t even be sure we’ll have clear winners by the end of the night. This is a long game, and no matter who wins, there are rough roads ahead.
But one thing is clear: women are ready to lead differently.
This is bigger than politics. This is about stepping up and redefining what it means for women to lead. Because we’ve all seen women in leadership that looks a lot like Patriarchy in a Chanel dress. We’ve all been in spaces where it feels like the only way to be heard requires everyone agreeing or changing someone’s mind. But what if real leadership could create change and leave everyone better off, without needing to fit into a mold?
Leaning Into Leadership When Everything Feels Heavy
I’ve felt that stirring, wanting to step up in a way I haven’t before. And yet, even for the most confident, high-achieving woman, there’s often a place, a topic, a group dynamic, or a person that makes you hesitate, that tempts you to bite your tongue when you know speaking up matters.
That hesitation? It costs you. It chips away at your self-confidence and self-trust, creating more stress, overthinking, and second-guessing. It leaves you in endless loops of “what ifs,” training ourselves to delay decisions and keep the peace at the expense of your own clarity.
Which just doesn’t jive, given you’re the same woman who’s also created massive progress and huge accomplishments in your life.
What if you could bridge that disconnect, and build a model of leadership that’s uniquely yours; a way of leading that doesn’t require fitting in but instead invites you to show up as the truest version of yourself? A leadership style that feels like an expression of who you are, not a costume you wear for approval.
The Kind of Leader Who Doesn’t Wait to Be “Ready”
There’s no exact formula for how you’re going to lead. That’s both the challenge and the freedom of it. Leadership isn’t about waiting until you feel 100% “ready.” It’s about showing up and making choices, even when the world feels a little sideways. It’s about letting people see you as you are - strong, at times unsure, funny, resilient - and allowing your voice to be real.
This isn’t about leading “like a man” or “like a woman.” It’s about leading like you. Maybe that means setting boundaries where you’ve previously let things slide, sharing your ideas boldly, or bringing levity to a heavy topic. However it looks, real leadership brings all of you to the table, and sometimes that includes a good laugh right alongside a strong opinion.
If You’re Ready, Let’s Talk
While we’re processing the Election Day results, I’d love to hear from you. Email me at [email protected], say hi, and tell me where you’re stepping into leadership in your life. And if you’re ready to lead in a way that frees you rather than fits you, let’s dive into a deeper conversation on how you and I can make that happen.
And, hey, don’t forget to take care of you. Drink water, breathe deeply, step outside. Maybe take a walk or go do some heavy lifting. Write down all those worries or scream them out if you need to. Eat something you love, watch your favorite show if you need to, and get your Brain Sleep.
I’ll see you on the flip side.
